I have been trying different methods to hem my jeans. I didn't like the cutting them 1 1/4" and folding them. It didn't work well for me. Plus if you only want to remove 1/4" you couldn't. I was watching you tube vids and found The Magic Hem by Hyi Lim. It was a great vid even though I had to watch it 5 times to get what he was saying. It was exactly what I needed. So I tried it tonight on my too long jeans. I wanted to remove 1 1/2". So I folded it 3/4" (x 2 = 1 1/2") and sewed with a "half" a foot, the cording foot which I had in my 301 box. Then the new formed crease gets cut off so there is 3/8" remaining to the seam I just sewed. Then the orig yellow seam is ripped out and unfolded. Then everything is folded into the orig fold and the topstitch thread is sewed right back into the orig thread holes that were ripped out earlier. For my first pair they came out great. I took some pics so you can get a better understanding. I top stitched with the yellow Coats topstitch thread for yeans. My 404 had zero problems sewing even over the bumps with really multiple layers. Let me know what you think. Dorris Wedding over 50 mature ladies collections for a cocktail party
